Privacy policy
What Novi collects, why, and the control you have over it.
Last updated October 2026
What we collect
Account details: your email address, your name if you provide one, your interface language and your plan.
Your academic content: the projects, sources, notes, highlights, essays, citations and footnotes you create. This is yours, and it is only visible to your account.
Usage counts: how many AI actions and uploads you have used in the current month, so plan limits can be applied.
Basic operational data needed to run the service, such as error logs used to diagnose faults.
How your content is used
Your content is used to provide the features you ask for — summarising a source you added, generating a citation you requested, formatting a bibliography. It is not published, and it is not turned into public web pages.
AI features send only the material needed for the specific request to the AI provider handling that request. Generated references are based on the source details you have saved.
Who processes data
Novi runs on the Base44 platform, which provides hosting, authentication and the database. Payments are handled by Stripe — Novi never sees or stores your card details. AI features are fulfilled by the platform's AI providers.
Analytics
Novi records which features are used so the product can be improved. Usage events record the action, not the contents of your essays or research.
Your rights and control
You can export or delete your work, and you can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account removes your projects, sources, notes, highlights, citations, footnotes and essays, then signs you out.
If you have a question about your data, contact us and we will answer it.
Retention
Your content is kept while your account exists. Deleting your account deletes your content. Payment records may be retained by the payment provider where the law requires it.
This policy describes how Novi currently works and is provided as a starting template. Have it reviewed before relying on it as a legal document in your jurisdiction.
